Temporal summation

1. Reset your simulator to obtain the default settings. The reset button is highlighted with the red box.

2. Change your settings as shown below. Settings that are different from the default settings are indicated with the red boxes.

3. Run simulation

4. Watch and listen to the simulation. Consider the temporal relationship between the two presynaptic neurons. When does the postsynaptic neuron fire?

5. Vary the time constants of the synaptic potentials. Does the firing of the two presynaptic neurons have to be more or less coordinated to get the postsynaptic neuron to fire? How do these relationships change when you vary the time constant?
